Chocolate Covered Strawberries

chocolate covered strawberries

What is it about having kids that makes you want to celebrate ALL the holidays? Am I alone in this? I have never ever been a fan of Halloween or Valentine’s Day, but I was ALL about a Halloween costume for the little guy a few months back and today I found myself wondering if I should make Valentine’s for Landon to give to a few people.

China Hutch Upcycle

farmhouse china hutch

I didn’t actually realize how long this project had been in the works until I sat down to write about it. For those who follow me on Instagram, you might remember the stories I posted about this hutch. I found it last year in May and HAD to have it. The problem, it is HUGE, weighs a ton and we don’t have a truck to haul it with.

DIY Front Door Decor

spring front door decor

I picked up these faux fern sprays from Michaels in the fall and haven’t used them until now. They are pretty large and bushy and I was struggling to find a bucket, basket or pot that they looked natural in, nothing was really working until I came across this hanging olive bucket at The Urban Coop. If you live in the Portland, OR area, love farmhouse style and haven’t been to this little shop, I HIGHLY recommend making a trip. It is the cutest little shop with beautiful items and I have to stop myself from buying too many things each time I go.

Christmas Cookies

christmas cookies

Merry Christmas weekend friends!!! Who is still scrambling last minute to get things done? Me, always. I wanted to post a quick tutorial on my Christmas cookies because I’m pretty impressed with how they turned out, especially for a first timer on the frosting piping bag! Real talk…I DID NOT make these from scratch. I went straight for the Pillsbury sugar cookie dough from the refrigerated aisle and Betty Crocker vanilla frosting out of the can because, sorry, but mama’s got no time for “made-from-scratch” this year. 🙂 Where I spent my time was on the fun frosting! And is so much easier than it looks as long as you have frosting bag and plain round size 5 frosting tip.

Holiday Cards

Let’s be clear…I am by NO MEANS a johnny-on-the-spot, efficiently organized, if-you’re-on-time-you’re-late person…AT ALL! I mean, Christmas is 7 days away and I did the bulk of my gift shopping online last night. I’m a last minute, rushing around like a chicken with my head cut off, study 1 hour before a test kind of person. Always have been, probably always will be. Every year I tell myself that I’m going to be organized about our Christmas cards and get them out early. This was not that year. But…once again, thanks to Shutterfly, I had the cards ordered one morning while I drank my coffee and watched the munchkin play with his toys. The whole process took me about 15 minutes. Just pick your card design, upload your photo and boom! Holiday card perfection! There are so many layouts to choose from, with 1 photo or multiple photos, front and back designs and customizable text boxes so you can simply say “with love…” or write a little note to your loved ones about the highlights of your year.

Christmas Table Décor

Anyone else feel like Christmas is just sneaking up on us? How is December already halfway over?!?! I had all my decorations out the weekend of Thanksgiving, and somehow, I’m still not done decorating everything! Could it be because I keep redecorating areas I’ve already decorated? Hmm…

Holiday Wood Sign

So many cute holiday signs out there this year. I saw so many different versions, I couldn’t decide which one to buy. Finally, I saw one that I liked, it was on the Instagram account of a local boutique that I follow. The problem, the actual boutique is not very close to where I live and the thought of making the trip, in recent weeks, just didn’t seem that fun. Why is it that I’m so willing to drive anywhere and everywhere in the summer but not in the winter? It’s gotta be the weather. I am NOT a cold weather fan. Continue reading

DIY Holiday Wreath

So, this was not a project or post I had planned on, it pretty much happened on accident while I was decorating the mantle today. I had a different plan as to what I was hanging above the mantle and hated how it turned out so I started over and this is what I came up with. I actually LOVE how this wreath turned out and wanted to share with you how simple it was.

DIY Baby Gate

Ok…let’s get something out of the way. November kicked my butt. Big time. I took this break from blogging to get my stuff together, get organized, be more consistent. And, October was great! I posted consistently, I was happy with what I was posting. Then, November happened. Halloween (ok, that’s October, but still) and DIY Halloween costumes, Landon’s first birthday and a fun party to celebrate him (where I may or may not have gone a bit overboard with the theme and décor), a trip to California for a family wedding which included Landon’s first airplane ride, and was promptly followed by his first cold, and then Thanksgiving. Landon’s “Wild One” Birthday

I thought I would jump on here while Landon is napping to share what has been keeping me so busy this last week. Our little guy turned 1, so naturally, I had to throw a party. Granted, this was more of a party for the grown ups than for the kids as there were only 5 kids there…oops. But, after our first year as parents, I think all parents deserve a party 🙂

Fall Home Tour

We officially have a walking baby!! Landon has been taking a few wobbly steps each day but last night he walked all the way across the living room! It was cute, exciting and terrifying all at the same time 🙂 With each new milestone comes a whole new stage of unexpectedness (I’m going to pretend that’s a word).

Home Bar

Why is it that when the time comes around for family photos (or any type of photos for that matter) I immediately feel like I have no style sense, whatsoever? Anyone else? Ah, well…that’s what style bloggers and Pinterest are for, right?

DIY Toy Box

I think I officially have a toddler. I mean, when I spend the entire day either chasing the little munchkin or saying “No, Landon…no, no, no….Landon, that’s not to play with” that equals toddler, right?!?! When he first learned what the word “no” meant, he would usually stop whatever behavior I was saying no to. Now, he is testing the limits and repeating the behavior, over and over and over. The latest, picking food up off his high chair tray, holding his food-filled fist for me to see and dropping it while I tell him not to drop the food. Big heavy sigh.

Small Buffet Upcycle

Hi everyone!!! Wow, it feels like I’ve been gone for SO LONG! I mean, 2 months isn’t forever but still, I missed posting for you and I’m glad to be back at it. Thank you for hanging in there while I took a little break. I was able to accomplish quite a few things around the house, get myself organized and reprioritize what I want and need to do with this blog going forward. I’m so excited to get back to sharing things with you and have so many fun projects in store, so I hope you love them as much as I do!

DIY Chalkboard Sign

Confession…I love chalkboards. Or, I love creating cute little works of art on chalkboards. Weird, I know. I have created some fun chalkboard signs for my mom’s business and thought it was time I have one in my home. I created a new photo gallery wall in our living room and took down the old gallery wall which was hanging in this space.

Red, White & Blue Pretzels

For those of you who procrastinate…like me…a super quick treat for your 4th of July festivities! These are so adorable, no? And the hands on time is maybe 15 minutes, tops!!

Gallery Wall

You know the best way to wake up early on a Tuesday morning? To the sound of your dog getting sick. I mean, nothing gets you to jump out of bed and on your feet faster. And then try going back to sleep after that. Two things that I thought would be an issue having dogs with a baby or small child. 1) That the dogs would take or chew on the baby’s toys and 2) the dogs are going to get a little “thicker” when the baby starts eating solid food and can therefore feed the dogs 🙂

Deck Restoration, Part 2

When I got to the point of being ready and able to start getting projects done again, with the urging of my husband, I knew I needed to finish up some things I had started before I got pregnant. A few examples…

DIY Herb Garden

I’ve wanted to have a vegetable garden for quite some time now. Lack of time is what stopped me before. Now that I have some (little) time on my hands, I thought this might be a good time to give it a shot. I waited a bit it to long though to work out all the plans for a full vegetable garden (building beds, planning what to plant and when, etc.) plus, I’m terrible at keeping plants alive (they need water, I’m not so good at remembering to give it to them) so, I thought an herb garden would be a safe place to start. So far so good, granted, it’s only been about a week, but we’re off to a good start.

Spring Décor Favorites

I’ve been shopping up a storm lately.

Ok, that’s not really something new. I guess the difference is, I’m being very particular about the things I buy for the house. Only making a purchase for an item I’ve really thought about, searched it out and have a specific spot for it. In the past, I would just go shopping, see something I like, buy it, and then get home and not really like it with anything else in the room.
