Christmas Table Décor

Anyone else feel like Christmas is just sneaking up on us? How is December already halfway over?!?! I had all my decorations out the weekend of Thanksgiving, and somehow, I’m still not done decorating everything! Could it be because I keep redecorating areas I’ve already decorated? Hmm…

I started thinking about what I wanted to do with the dining table last week. In years past I have put together different centerpieces, some with tall plants, flowers or candles, some with fluffy garlands. And it never fails that the plants, flowers or candles are too tall and obstruct the view across the table or the garlands stick out too far and get in the way of the plates and glasses. I typically end up removing the centerpiece for dinner parties in order to put the food out anyway, and then feel like I wasted time putting something together. (Based on how much time I spent thinking about this centerpiece situation, you can probably understand why it takes me so long to decorate) 🙂

I finally decided to go with a printed table runner to keep the middle of the table simple and build up a little décor on the plates. I was thinking of some sort of script or writing across the table runner and came across Shutterfly while searching. You guys, I had NO idea that Shutterfly had home décor! Did you?? I was seriously shocked at all the different items available; pillows, blankets, frames, candles and countless tabletop items. Plus, you can customize all of it. Think patterns photos, monograms. As you might have guessed, I spent hours on their website creating all sorts of customized things, my favorite being the table runner, by far. Best of all, they are having a sale right now! Select items are already 50% off on the website plus, if you order by end of day today, Monday 12/18, you can choose from an additional 20% off your order OR free expedited shipping to get your order by Christmas.

I went with the “Simple Script Table Runner” which has a burlap look to it and customized it with “Have yourself a merry little Christmas” in black, font Lily Wang size 300. What do you think?? I’m kind of obsessed! 🙂

I wish I could’ve added more of the items to my cart but was feeling a bit guilty about all the money I’d already spent on Christmas décor this year…oops. (Pretty sure that happened in the fall too…I see a trend here.) Here are some of the other items that I was loving for a Christmas tablescape…

plate

Start with the blank “upload your own design” Melamine plate, select “personalize”. Along the left hand side, you can select the “background” or “layout” tab. I started with background and selected this greenery and pinecone background. Under the “layout” tab, I selected “text only” and typed in “be jolly” in black font, Liorah size 100.

wine glass

Am I right?!?! 🙂 Start with the blank “make your own statement” stemless wine glass, select “personalize”. Select the text box and enter your statement, I used font Andy size 20.

kitchen towel

What cute little tea towels, no? I started with the “elegant circle foliage set” tea towel, select “personalize”. I wrote in “merry & bright” in the default font and then left the bottom text box blank.

cutting board

A pretty little charcuterie board for appetizers?? Yes, please! This is just the classic monogram cutting board with the default font. Not only is this great for the holidays for your own home but also makes such a great wedding, house warming or hostess gift as well.

You get the point. I literally couldn’t stop designing different items. I will definitely be back to their site to order some of these other items. Anyway, back to the table…

I really am so thrilled with how the table runner turned out. The quality of the fabric and printing is great and it perfectly captured what I wanted for this years dining table décor.

I finished the plates off with these French Stripe Napkins from World Market and the faux Poinsettias and galvanized pots from Ikea that I showed you a while back. I love how it all turned out and am excited to not have to tear the table décor apart in order to serve Christmas Eve dinner 🙂

Let me know what you guys think of the table, I would love to hear from you! And don’t forget to go get your personalized décor items from Shutterfly for 20% off!

  1. The runner looks AMAZING! What a great idea. I had no idea that Shutterfly had such versatility! I’ll look into some home decor from them too – too late this year, but next Christmas will be here before we know it.
