Toddler Boy Fall Capsule Wardrobe 2019

toddler boy fall capsule wardrobe

Wasn’t it so much easier when your toddler was a baby and it was acceptable for them to just wear footie pajamas all day? Don’t get me wrong, I bought ALL the cute, color coordinated outfits but 9 times out of 10, he wound up in pjs.

Now, this little guy is about to be 3 (cue the mama waterworks!) and needs a new wardrobe every 6 months because he’s grown out of last years clothes. My problem in the past is going into a store, buying a bunch of random items, all very cute, but paid no attention to whether anything went with each other. Landon would end up with a “full wardrobe” but I seemed to only dress him in the same 5 outfits over and over.

This fall, I’m going all in with a capsule wardrobe. Have you heard of these before? It’s a set number of items, all in coordinating colors, and an assortment of styles that can be mixed and matched to create endless amounts of outfits.

In this capsule, I chose 30 items and created 62 different outfits to get Landon through all of fall/winter seasons (October-March). Are 62 outfits necessary for 6 months?…probably not. You could easily edit this down to less items in each category to fit your needs or budget. The goal is really just to have pieces that are easy to mix and match to create multiple outfits. The only items I didn’t include were cold weather items such as gloves, hats, snow boots, snow pants, etc. If you want to add those into your capsule, you can easily remove a few of the items listed and replace with cold weather items.

Essentially, the point of this capsule is not to make you think you need to run out and buy all 30 of these items, but rather, to give you some inspiration for portions of your toddler boy’s wardrobe. Customize it to your needs or budget. If you toddler doesn’t wear a lot of jeans and sweaters, cut those out of the capsule and just focus on the more casual pieces. You will still have a great selection of outfits to choose from.

Happy shopping!
