We are going on hour 12 of baby sleep! He woke up at 5:45 to eat, but other than that, has been out since 9pm last night 🙂 I’ve been doing a little trial and error as far as sleep routines go and we may have found a good balance yesterday. I’ll keep it going for a few days and report back if continues to be this successful.
I’ve been having trouble finding inspiration and getting projects done these days, mostly due to lack of time to just sit around surfing Pinterest or having an extended period of time to accomplish anything. I started my first building project since Landon was born about a week ago and, so far, I’ve only completed step 1. Insert face palm emoji here. I think I need to learn to let go a bit, especially the expectation of always having a clean house. I wake up when baby wakes up. Take a shower and get ready for the day during nap #1. Pick up the house, do dishes and laundry and check emails, Insta and Facebook during #2. Run errands during nap #3. By this time it’s usually 2 or 3pm and it leaves 1 or 2 more naps, one of which is usually spent getting dinner ready. This 12 hour sleeping situation could really help me out if I just stay awake after that 5 or 6am feeding, so, Landon…let’s keep this up…okay?
I am excited to share my first building project in a long time with you guys! I am building floating corner shelves in the nursery. They are actually pretty easy and are such a great way to fill space in a functional way in those awkward corners that you never know what to do with. Anyway, until then, I thought I’d hold you over with some inspiration. I’m loving the combination and contrast of black and white right now. I still LOVE all white neutrals but I really like to add black (especially wrought iron) or wood accents.
My mom is really going to LOVE this post 🙂 Pretty sure her dream is to turn an old barn into a home. Or at least into an event venue that she can run a business out of. Well mama, here is your inspiration! This is a 161 year old grain mill that was bought and remodeled by a couple of antique dealers, obviously they knew what they were doing.
The first image is the before…and the transformation is just magic. Now let’s go find a barn to buy mom!
I’ve featured the home of Lauren Conrad before, her single-girl Beverly Hills penthouse apartment. Now…she’s unveiling the remodel on her new Pacific Palisades home she shares with her husband. What can I say…I like her style! The home is a wonderful mix of Bohemian elements, glamour and feminine style.
I don’t know if I’d ever have the guts to attempt the open shelving style, like you see in Conrad’s kitchen and dining room. It sure looks pretty though. I’m also slightly obsessed with the rustic wide plank flooring and EVERYTING about the bathroom.
Enjoy all the pics! And for those of you tracking the progress…yes, I am 2 days past my due date and no baby yet…
As I sit here typing this post, I’m in the lab waiting room in the middle of my glucose tolerance testing. What a fun way to start the day…got here at 7:30AM, had blood drawn and then drank the nasty sugar liquid. I think they should have to give at least 2 flavor options. As a child who NEVER liked orange soda, seeing that bottle of orange liquid made me a little sick just thinking about it. Then again, if option #1 is orange flavor, option #2 would probably be grape or cherry…and that wouldn’t get me anywhere. Guess it is what it is. On the bright side, I have 2 hours to sit here and get some work done and my selfless hubby is sitting next to me, enduring the boredom so I don’t have to be alone. Actually, who am I kidding…he’s not bored…he’s on his I-Pad watching old clips of Seahawks games, getting excited for the upcoming season where I’ll no longer have a husband on Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights. 🙂
I also had baby shower #2 on Sunday and it left me feeling happy, loved and so excited for our little guy to be here. The amount of love and excitement our friends and family have for him and for us is so sweetly overwhelming. It would be hard to not be excited after a celebration like that. One more shower to go and I have so much organization, unpacking, washing and folding to do! It’s going to be a very busy 12 weeks!
Just stepped away to get the 2nd blood draw. One more in an hour and then hopefully all goes well and I don’t have to come back for the 3 hour test…yikes.
I saw the photos of Anderson Cooper’s vacation home in Brazil a while back and knew immediately that they would be my next inspiration post. The home was built in Trancoso, a remote village overlooking the ocean and was designed to look and feel like the village it is nestled in, with rustic architecture and minimalist deign. Cooper used designer and real estate expert, Wilbert Das, to desing the home, and it is nothing short of a tropical paradise.
The weather lately you guys…it feels like summertime in the Northwest! And I am LOVING every minute of it!! It is making me ready to get back outside and get some outdoor projects done, like finishing our back deck which sat half-finished all winter…oops. Currently, I’m working on finishing up the breakfast nook and it’s almost done. I am painting some old dining room chairs white. This is taking some time because they were originally black so it takes about 3 coats of paint to cover. But yesterday I found THE MOST adorable chair cushions and Homegoods and I’m so excited for you guys to see them! Super plush, tufted, paisley and floral in white, grey and tan!!! They are going to be perfect for my space! Yep, these are the things I get excited about…
I think you all know that I have a slight obsession with HGTV. There is a new show, Good Bones, where a mom and daughter are renovating houses around Indianapolis. It’s pretty cute, and pretty much my dream. Did you hear that mom? Put your house on the market, move to Portland and start thinking of t.v. show names. 🙂 Anyway, every year HGTV does a Dream House that they renovate top to bottom and then give away to a winner. This year’s house is on Merritt Island in Florida and I wish I was that lucky winner because this dream house is truly dreamy. You can view photos of the entire house on http://www.hgtv.com as well as take a virtual tour but for now, here are some of my favorite shots. Enjoy!
I’m having an INSANELY lazy day today and I’m loving every minute of it! I was up at 4:30am the last 2 mornings for work and it really took it’s toll. This morning I slept in late, had breakfast and coffee with my hubby and am now laying in bed, blogging and watching…you guessed it…re-runs of Fixer Upper (it’s Tuesday, isn’t that what everyone does on Tuesday?) 🙂
Today I’m featuring this ranch house from season 2 of Fixer Upper because I am obsessed with the French Country style it has.
Tufted furniture, muted colors, white washed brick…I’m loving it all!
One of my favorite things in this house are the faux paper white bulbs planted in wood trays in the bottom left picture.
I just ordered a few to create an arrangement as well as the magnolia wreath, both from Magnolia Market (links to both are below). I’m so excited for these to arrive and share with you how I use them in my home.
